firebird drawing + comp

The drawing for a cut paper piece I'm doing in my alternative illustration techniques class. I'm really enjoying it so far, and for once I will say without any hesitation that I LOVE this drawing. I have an affinity for birds, and the phoenix/firebird myth is one of my favorites.



And here's a quick color comp. This was done digitally on top of a much rougher early sketch, so the drawing isn't quite the same, but you get the idea.
