I'm going through an "animals in winter clothes" phase. I don't know what that's about, but it's making me pretty happy. Also making me happy: gouache. Love love love gouache.

snow bunny
Last night I was feeling pretty depressed, so I painted a bunny in earmuffs to cheer myself up. It worked! Plus it's been a while since I've done a painting with anything but watercolor, so I thought I'd try my hand at something more opaque - gouache. This is the first painting I've ever done with gouache, and I really, really loved it. It's like all the good qualities of watercolor and acrylic fused together, with none of the annoyingly fast drying time that puts me off of acrylics. I will definitely be using this medium more in the future.
