aceo: wounded

So after a bunch of aborted painting attempts yesterday (so frustrating), I decided to try my hand at aceo's - as they're known around the intertubes. At least I think that's how they're known around the intertubes. Anyway! Tiny little 2.5'' x 3.5'' works of art.

Verdict? I love them. In the last 24 hours I've done 6. I like working small - kind of ridiculously small, I've been told - so these are perfect. Plus it's a great way to use up the seventy bazillion strips of scrap watercolor paper I have lying around.

This was the very first. Most of the rest are in the same vein - girls, hatching, limited color (mainly black and red, which should come as a surprise to absolutely no one). This is happy fun time art, after all. I have no issues retreating to my artistic comfort zone.

The other day I picked up a set of Staedtler pigment liners, which I broke in on this piece. I think I prefer them to microns. The only problem being that I've never seen them sold singly, and I run through .01 size pens at an alarming speed. Like right now I've got 5 .01 microns in my bag and they're all nearly dry. So unless I can find a source for the single pens, I'll be sticking with microns for my ocd hatching needs.
